WHY DO WE NEED

CORKSCREW THINKERS?

WHY DO WE NEED  CORKSCREW THINKING?

WHY CORKSCREW THINKING IS NEEDED

Corkscrew Thinking was born out of necessity during a critical time as the Allies and the Axis battled one another in the second world war. Winston Churchill, then Prime Minister of the UK, believed the stalemate would be impassable due to the way we are conditioned to think, a linear approach to maintain the status quo. Churchill believed the only option to win WWII was to break tradition, to adopt a Corkscrew Thinking approach. Fast forward to today and again we’re at a pivotal time in the evolution of the world and must inspire Corkscrew Thinkers to find solutions to our own global battles.

CLIMATE CHANGE

Our traditional way of life is not sustainable and needs huge changes and alternatives to ensure our worlds future. In worrying times it’s unforgivable to answer ‘we’ve always done it that way’ and play the blame game when we look at how we live our lives. We need to think differently and have the courage to take responsibility to find solutions to our potentially irreversible mistakes.

4TH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

The world is rapidly evolving and no aspect is changing quicker than the world of work. As computers, technology and AI take more authority for our tasks the role of humans in the workforce is changing dramatically. The World Economic Forum consider innovation, creativity and critical thinking to top the key skills needed to survive, we believe a Corkscrew mindset is vital to thrive.

MENTAL HEALTH

A world filled with external pressures from others leads to increased stress as we battle to please those around us, rather than focus on our own well being and happiness. Materialistic expectations and social norms make it difficult to be true to ourselves and forces us to comply with expected status quo’s, breaking those norms through a Corkscrew approach can be the beginning of designing your best life.

FUTURE OF EDUCATION

Education is one area that has been hampered in evolution by strict procedures and traditions, enforced by hierarchal systems to conform in the way we approach developing our future generations. Rapid change and external interrogation has led educators to look at how we can break away from old fashioned models, Corkscrew Thinking can help innovate to better prepare lifelong learners in a modern world.

EQUALITY

It’s inconceivable to think that we still live in a world where we have inequality on a local, national and global scale with examples including race, gender, health and social class. Centuries of tradition and customs that have created systemic status quo’s that are as rigid as they are ridiculous, we need Corkscrew Thinkers to push for change and to champion equality across borders and cultures.

AND MANY MORE BIG AND SMALL

While a Corkscrew Thinking approach can be used to tackle larger issues with creativity and courage, it doesn’t mean it can’t be applied to everyday hurdles you face in your everyday life. Over our history we have become preconditioned to respond in certain ways, sometimes it’s worthwhile to think about how you’re looking for solutions and look at things through a new lens.
