REMOTE STARTUP EXPERIENCESHIP

Our innovative twist on an internship that blends structured training with real time business projects from anywhere in the world will kickstart your entrepreneurial journey. Over the course of 4 weeks you’ll be put through ideation challenges to spark your very own startup and then taught how to test feasibility and shown how to launch quickly and easily with minimal capital. As with a traditional internship you’ll also be given a real time business project to complete to boost your practical working portfolio and learn the art of juggling multiple tasks over a set period of time. As this project is remote you’ll also be guided to develop your remote working skills so you can join the world of nomadic workers. If you’re feeling even more courageous and looking for adventure we can assist you in becoming part of global innovative communities and work from key startup capitals from Barcelona to Beijing, so ask one of our team about the placement option.

EXPERIENCESHIP OVERVIEW

This alternative to a traditional internship is perfect for those unsure which direction they want their career path to follow or for those with an interest in marketing, business or entrepreneurship. The Experienceship blends two key elements 1. real time project work for a startup and 2. training on how to launch your own business from ideation to testing. With experienced coaches and structured training this is the best first step into the world of work and will boost your career chances in ways a traditional internship can’t.

PART ONE | REAL TIME PROJECT WORK FOR STARTUPS

Over the course of the 4 weeks you’ll be given a real time business project for one of the startups in the Corkscrew community. We’ll look to match you with an organisation that matches your core values and can offer a project that will boost your portfolio (could range from business development to influencer marketing strategies) and push your theoretical skills through practical implementation. The project will be conducted remotely with support from the host organisation and your dedicated Corkscrew coach as you develop key skills on the job. We will aim to find a host organisation on a relevant time zone, but you may be working for a company overseas, so allowing you to develop remote working skills.

PART TWO | LAUNCH YOUR OWN STARTUP

Ever dreamt of launching your very own startup? The Startup Experienceship will take you through the startup journey as you develop critical entrepreneurial skills and learn about your values and passions to spark your very own startup concept. The first module on the Startup Experienceship is learning how to spark new business ideas through our innovative ideation challenges. Once you have your idea you’ll learn how to check the feasibility of the idea through our very own SEAMLESS Canvas, allowing you to make sure you’re not wasting time and money. Finally, we’ll take you through the process of lean startup to build a minimal viable product to test and prove concept, ensuring your new idea has the best chance of success.

LOCATIONS

The best thing about the Remote Startup Experienceship is that you can participate from anywhere in the world. You can take the program from home, on campus or choose to take the more adventurous route and be part of the growing tribe of nomadic workers and join one of the many cowork spaces we partner with. Corkscrew has partnered with more than 50+ cowork spaces in cities such as Barcelona and Berlin in Europe or Buenos Aires and Rio in South America to take your program to the next level. There are huge benefits from working from a cowork space from the amazing connections/networks you can make to the opportunities you will have to learn from experts in diverse fields from tech to travel. If you’re interested in joining one of our cowork spaces then just ask one of the team for more details (availability/pricing).

FAQ

IS AN EXPERIENCESHIP THE SAME AS AN INTERNSSHIP?

This workshop is as flexible as you need it to be, it could be completed in a few days or a few weeks depending on how quickly you go through the online course and materials. The coaching call lasts about 30 minutes, but after that you will guide yourself through the process and receive feedback in the online How To: Test Startup Ideas private studio on www.corkscrewthinking.com

CAN I TAKE LONGER THAN 4 WEEKS?

As the Expereinceship is built around a set structure there isn’t the opportunity to reduce or extend the program duration. However, we have found in the past that participants have been able to extend their work experience with their host organisation directly.

CAN I CHOOSE MY LIVE BUSINESS PROJECT?

To some extent you’ll be able to choose your live project as you’ll have a coaching call with the Corkscrew team where we will be able to find out what type of companies you’d like to work with in the future and we’ll look to match you as closely as we can to your selected values and career path. Our connection with global cowork spaces allow us to find matches in a range of sectors and industries ensuring we can find an organisation that matches your career journey.

WILL I BE WITH A GROUP?

You’ll probably be with other participants on your remote journey, but you’ll probably be hanging out online with them! We encourage all our Remote Experienceship participants to seriously consider completing the program from a cowork space, either from your home location or even more beneficially from one of the cowork spaces in our Corkscrew community as you push your boundaries and learn from influencers and experts across a range of industries.

CAN YOU SUPPORT FINDING ACCOMMODATION

With some of the cowork spaces we can help you arrange nearby accommodation, however, this will depend on the location. We advise that you chat with one of the Corkscrew team about this option.

CAN I GET CREDIT FOR AN EXPERIENCESHIP?

This will depend on your university, but we’ve found that after seeing the structure and focus of the experienceships a lot of colleges will provide credit for the program. Ask one of the Corkscrew team for more info.

WHAT DO I NEED TO COMPLETE THE REMOTE EXPERIENCESHIP?

You’ll need good time management, organisation and technical equipment like a laptop and good internet. Before you start the Experienceship you’ll be given access to both our Self Brand and Remote Working workshops to be fully prepared for the world of remote working. You’ll need good interent connection for live video conferencing and shareable/collaboration programs such as Dropbox and Google Docs.

WHO CAN JOIN? DO I NEED TO STUDY BUSINESS?

This program is for anyone that has an interest in the world of startups or for those who have uncertainty in their career path. You don’t need any prior knowledge in business or entrepreneruship, and just an open mind and willingness to learn something new.

WHEN CAN I START?

The great thing about the program is the flexibility it brings. We have monthly start dates across the year, giving you the flexibility to join when you have time. It takes us approximately 4 weeks to find a host project, but this can be quicker if you’re flexible with the type of organisation you want to work with.
