MODULE ONE | THE SEAMLESS© CANVAS

In our first module we’ll look at some of the problems people face when trying to check the feasibility of an idea without spending time, money and effort on something that maybe just won’t work. Many of the current methods are confusing and won’t save much more time than a traditional business plan, that’s why we created our very own SEAMLESS Canvas to enable our live cohorts to quickly and easily check the feasibility of an idea and what they would need to work on to achieve their startup dream

MODULE TWO | SHAREABILITY

The first part of the canvas is looking at the SHAREABILITY of your idea. A Youtube generation has meant we’re overcrowded and bombarded with marketing messages for new products and services more and more every day. This has led to our attention span reducing to that of about 10 seconds, so if your idea is complicated or confusing you’re going to struggle selling to your new market. In this section we’ll look at the power of storytelling and ensuring you can explain your new idea clearly and quickly.

MODULE THREE | ECONOMICALLY VIABLE

We’re not expecting 3 year cash flow forecasts at this stage of your business concept, but you’ll need to have a clear idea on how you’ll generate income and also they key startup costs you’ll have to find in your first year. With these costs you’ll understand just how feasible your idea is to take to market and how much money you may need to raise to make it a possibility.

MODULE FOUR | ACHIEVABLE

Lot’s of past participants on our programs have come up with great business ideas, especially new technology, apps and products. However, many times those with the ideas don’t have the skills or abilities to take these new ideas to market, so in this section we’ll look at how achievable your business idea will be. It will allow you to understand if you’ll need to learn a new skill or potentially partner with someone who does have the relevant skills required.

‘THIS WORKSHOP HELPED ME TO LOOK AT MY BUSINESS IDEA FROM A WHOLE NEW PERSPECTIVE AND I AM SO GLAD I USED THE SEAMLESS CANVAS TO EVALUATE MY IDEA.’

MODULE FIVE | MARKET OPPORTUNITY

Market Opportunity is split into two key headings a) Target Market and b) Market Competition. It’s vital that when you launch your business you have a clear target market and that you can find a way to successfully market to this new audience. It’s also important that you do your research in the market and find both your direct and indirect competitors as you look to identify your key USP (Unique Selling Point).

MODULE SIX | LEGALLY VIABLE

Many new businesses are launching into new territories and areas that have none or little regulation, just look at the multiple law suits the likes of Uber and Airbnb see in many of the cities/countries they operate in. It’s important to understand if there are any legal loopholes or red tape you’ll need to address, not that it should stop you, but that you’re aware ask you take those first steps in taking your idea to market.

MODULE SEVEN | ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

This section may not be relevant to all new business ideas, but is worth considering in all new concepts you’re thinking about launching. In today’s climate/environmental concerns it’s key that we look at any potential impacts (both positive and negative) when we’re looking to launch something new.

MODULE EIGHT | SOCIAL IMPACT

Just as with the Environmental Impact it’s key that with any new startup you consider the Social Impact when launching. Again it may not play any sort of part in your new idea, but it’s definitely worth keeping in mind.

MODULE NINE | SCALABLE OR SUSTAINABLE

Sometimes ideas are great for quick financial gain, such as running a one off event or selling the latest trend or fad, however, you should always be looking at launching businesses that are sustainable, if not scalable. In the final section we’ll be looking at how to create longer term businesses.
